This is another one of my favorites, I learned this block when I was 8 years old.
It is a beautiful block for a bed quilt. The pattern goes together so well and in the finished quilt it is mesmerizing to look at.
I sometimes make wall quilts out of the pattern as I could just sit and stare at it all day...so pretty.
Very easy to put together, lots of extras on this one. Sizes 6" to 12" blocks, Rotary Cutting, Template Cutting and a layout of a full quilt.
My grandparents lived in a quiet little town, far off the beaten path in Southern NY. Most of their neighbors were Amish and one of the families right across the street had a daughter my age. I remember staying at my grandparents and playing with Anya, but I remember more the times her and I and her grandmother would sit on their front porch and sew all day long while the men tended the fields and took care of the livestock. Anya, her grandmother and I would make bread, pies, cookies and other baked goods and then put them out for sale to other neighbors or passer-bys. We would sit on the front porch and hand quilt and talk all day long.
I miss those days, so young and carefree and earning money right on your front lawn. Such a simple way of doing things, helping the neighbors and creating beautiful quilts.
